WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF WRITING BLOCKS?

The three demons that can block your writing are fear, perfectionism and the delusion of grandeur.
Lutz von Werder

First of all, be aware that every writer faces writing blocks. That is the so called blank page fright. The head is full of ideas, you know exactly what you want to say... but it is impossible to write it down... You write one sentence, delete it, start again...

In case of writing block, you can try one of these tricks:
Address your text to a friend and write your first draft in the form of a letter.
Tell a friend what you want to write about.
Repeat to yourself: first of all I write for myself, to learn, to understand...
Reread what you've already written.
Brainstorm or cluster your topic.
Begin with the easiest part of your paper - leave the most difficult for the end.
Remember that this version is not the last one. You will revise and edit it later.
Change the tool: if you can't write with the computer, try with a pencil.
Change the place: try in the kitchen, in a pub, in a park...
Give yourself a limited writing time, for instance half an hour. During this time, don't do anything else but writing (don't go to the fridge, don't telephone, don't check your emails, etc.).
