BYR – Homework
For both exercises you will need the two texts at the top of the list (Two scientific papers containing a section (2-5 pages) you need to reread many times in order to understand it (you should have read it once, no matter if you did not understand it). Localize the sections you want to work on (2-5 pages).)
One text for each exercise.
Duration
Schedule about 2 hours.
Please note
Today’s exercise does not expect you to finish your reading within the proposed time box. What is important is you to try the technique in order to see if you can use it.
If the time proposed is unsufficient for achieving your goal, don’t be angry: you can continue later.
Evaluation
Please remember to answer the questions in the evaluation (below) to validate the homeworks.
Transform a text into a graph (p. 16)
Goal
You will learn how to visualise a text for quick understanding, good memorisation and for paraphrasing. And to avoid getting lost into details.
Material needed
- 1 article containing a section (2-5 pages) you need to reread many times in order to understand it.
- a big sheet (A3 or A4)
- pencils of different colors.
Please note
Exercise: don’t listen the whole video before you do the exercise. Rather work step by step – when the video tells you stop the video, stop and to the task during the alloted time.

Goals
To read a complex text.
To summarise a text with your own words.
Additionnally, it is a great technique to improve your English or whatever language you want to learn.
